Bursting with its own character, Muar is a drive of around three hours from Kuala Lumpur. While you may experience Muar by river cruise at Tanjung Emas Waterfront on weekend or school holidays, here is just another beautiful countryside destination that is a little bit off the beaten track that we think you will love – Desa Keroma Eco Resort.

Never miss a chance to ask for a mangrove tour package upon your arrival at Desa Keroma Eco Resort as this will deliver a far more memorable experience than you might expect.

From Kampung Keroma Jetty, you will be taken by boat down the river, enjoying captivating vista of mangrove wonderland while heading to kelong stilt in which the mussels are bred at coastal water off Muar – the Straits of Malacca to be exact. Kelong is a Malay word for a wooden offshore platform built primarily for fishing as this can only be found in the Southeast Asia region.

If you are lucky, you will be able to taste fresh mussels (of course after being cleaned and cooked) from this rope-grown mussel cultivation method. You might also have the opportunity to see the sunset, catching the river snail or even watching people foraging for cockles near the Straits of Malacca.

However, at the time of this writing, the kelong stilt which is owned by the resort, is temporarily closed until further notice for upgrading works.
