If you want to venture into the entrails of the cave but you are complete novice, why not considering this magnificent Tempurung Cave to begin with?

The navigation is not notoriously tough plus you don’t have to descend into the depths of the cave as if you are a professional caver.

The great thing is there’s no such a scrambling or a maze of passageways to tackle throughout your memorable caving excursion.

Nestled on the limestone hill facing North-South Expressway near Gopeng exit, Gua Tempurung is one of the largest cave in Peninsular Malaysia, about two-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur by car.

The dramatic stalagmites and stalactites which dating back to 400 milion years ago, create a stunning view that will transport you to discover this natural wonder with a span of almost four kilometres from eastern side of the cave entrance to the west.

Expect to see different rock formation and underground river as you traverse across the five different chambers – Golden Flowstone Cavern, Gergasi Cavern, Tin Mine Cavern, Alam Cavern and The Battlefield Cavern.

Gergasi Cavern which houses the highest level cave floor is also known as ‘Top of The World’. On the other hand, remnants of previous tin mining excavation could be observed in Tin Mine Cavern while fallen stalactites and rock formations are also found scattered on the Battlefield Cavern in which one of this site is dubbed as Fallen Warriors as it is said to resemble a troop of soldiers.                                                   

              

An amateur caver will definitely find Gua Tempurung a perfect base to start with, thanks for the installation of stairways and the lighting. Whether it be a dry or wet tour packages, the choice is yours.

Alternatively, if you want to discover more about Gopeng’s attractions that are a little bit off the beaten track, why not challenge yourself to navigate 1.1 kilometre long Gua Kandu which is also among the longest cave in Peninsular Malaysia.

You can also go for a hiking at Bukit Batu Putih to catch the sunset. Both Gua Kandu and Bukit Batu Putih are located close to Gua Tempurung.

One thing for sure, if you want to book for a dry or wet tour, don’t forget to wear proper clothing and comfortable shoes with gloves and knee pads as you will probably spend more than two hours inside the cave!
